When constructing or renovating a healthcare facility, effective wayfinding is critical to the safety and well-being of patients, visitors and staff. Proper wayfinding for a major center such as a hospital requires planning and consideration of many factors. PLS has produced custom sign systems for several healthcare facilities and renovated existing signage in many more. Renovating and upgrading existing signage is often a more difficult task. Two common problems with older signage are that it often is not ADA-compliant and that there are too many unnecessary signs, creating confusing visual clutter. Renovating or adding to an existing building often causes conflicts in signage and direction. When faced with these challenges, PLS endeavours to streamline the existing elements and update the information with an appealing product.
